Making Positive Changes for Life-Long Health & Happiness

At Mosaic Clinical Services, we understand the many difficulties that confront you everyday, and how easy it is to rely on drugs or alcohol to diminish the frustration, pain, and sadness we all experience. In short, you will never be judged by our team. We’re here to offer help and support. When you’re ready to talk about how substance use impacts your day to day life and make some changes, the Mosaic Clinical Services team can help you. We offer a variety of therapy solutions to assist you in developing the skills you need to work through anything life throws at you.

What is Addiction?

If you’re struggling with substance use, you may have difficulty believing that this addiction is actually a disease. Many people struggle to accept this truth, but substance dependence is a disease that impacts the brain, body, and behavior. Addiction leads to compulsive seeking of a substance or the feeling that substance use creates even if there are negative consequences. This addiction causes changes to the way the mind works that can last for a lifetime, making it increasingly difficult for people to stop substance use voluntarily. When the choice of whether or not to use a substance is taken away from you by addiction, a counselor can help you to make the changes you need to regain the lost control.

How is Substance Use Treated Through Therapy?

In most cases, substance use therapy is conducted through individual sessions in combination with group therapy. While regularly scheduled individual appointments help you to recognize and develop your skills to move toward the goals you seek, more frequent group sessions can be a great option to help you feel a sense of accountability to others and have a place to turn for support. We offer Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group sessions that can be beneficial for those struggling with substance use. Our individual therapy typically utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat addiction.

When it comes to therapy for substance use, there are several important factors to keep in mind:

  • Substance use and dependence is complicated, but it is treatable

  • No therapy is right for every person

  • Effective substance use therapy addresses the whole person not the addiction

  • Changing substance use behaviors is a lifelong process that needs to be worked through continually and consistently

Should I Consider Therapy for Substance Use?

The Mosaic Clinical Services team understands that substance use and dependence are difficult but not insurmountable struggles. If you want to take steps to move away from your substance use, we can help - at any stage of dependence or addiction - therapy can help you change your thinking and behaviors. Some of the triggering incidents that send many people struggling with substance use to our team include:

  • Loss of job, home, or family support

  • Health issues that make substance use dangerous

  • Disintegration of marriages or other relationships

  • Legal order to receive counseling for drugs or alcohol use
